Sue Gundy, well known textile design artist from Seattle with her own successful textile design firm (Sue Gundy Textiles) and Textile Design Teacher (Seattle Central Community College), photographed for a “Digital Photo Project” distinctive architectural details of prominent Seattle buildings and transformed these into textile designs. The steel supports of the Seattle Alweg Monorail were part of this documentation. In Seattle the Monorail line called for a special solution, and therefore these steel supports were installed here demonstrating a different type of structure than the typical Alweg concrete pylons. With artistic interpretation Sue Gundy transformed the structure of these steel arches into her special textile medium and created an interesting design that transposes the purely technical Alweg design into a new
dimension.

Sue Gundy, bekannte Textildesign-Künstlerin aus Seattle mit eigener erfolgreicher Textildesign-Firma (Sue Gundy Textiles) und Dozentin (Seattle Central Community College), hat im Rahmen eines „Digital Photo Project“ markante Architekturdetails aus der Innenstadt von Seattle fotografisch dokumentiert und dann diese in Textildesign übertragen. Dazu gehören auch die abgebildeten Stahlträger der Seattle Alweg Monorail. Der Verlauf der Strecke machte an dieser Stelle den Einsatz dieser Stahlträger notwendig und demonstriert somit eine andere Variante von Tragwerk als die typischen Alweg-Betonträger. Mit künstlerischer Interpretation übertrug Sue Gundy die Bogenstruktur der Stahlträger in ihr Textilmedium und schuf damit ein interessantes Muster, das das rein technische Alweg-Design in eine neue Dimension versetzt.

Arnold Schoger magically creates wonderful silhouette art based on a great variety of motifs, - among them the Wuppertal suspension monorail (below) and the Alweg monorail ! With amazement one looks for example at his very delicate silhouette-cards ( ideal as extraordinary greeting-cards ) and as if one were watching the art of a superb magician one automatically asks: how can he do that so excellently !?

Die Scherenschnittkunst des Arnold Schoger
Arnold Schoger zaubert herrliche Scherenschnitte nach einer Vielzahl verschiedenster Motive, - unter anderem auch von der Wuppertaler Schwebebahn (unten) und der Alweg-Bahn! Verblüfft schaut man sich zum Beispiel seine filigranen Scherenschnitt-Karten ( ideal als außergewöhnliche Grußkarten ) an und wie bei den Kunststücken eines guten Zauberers fragt man sich unwillkürlich: wie macht der das so toll !?
